Step by Step Guides

Outlook

On Menu select Tools -> E-mail Accounts...

Select View or change existing... Click Next

Click Add.. to add SBC account or Change after selecting existing SBC if you are updating existing settings

Key in your Name, Email Address, username, password and server information as shown above and click on More Settings.

Key in the Port Numbers : 995 for Incoming Server and select encrypted connection.

587 for Outgoing Server and select encrypted connection.

Select Leave a copy of messages on the server and remove after 14 days if you would like to download the emails onto other computers

Thunderbird

Select from menu Tools -> Account Settings

If updating an existing account click on Server Settings under the relevant account, otherwise click on Add Account at the bottom left corner of the window.
Enter the following information:

• Server Name : mail.sbc.edu.sg
• User Name : your sbc it account user name
• Security Settings : Use secure connection TLS
• Server Settings : (Optional) Leave message on server for at most 14 days

Next select Outgoing Server (SMTP) and click Add

Key in the following information

• Description : SBC
• Server Name : mail.sbc.edu.sg
• Port : 587
• Security and Authentication : Use name and password, key in your user name
• Use secure connection : TLS
  

Apple Mail

Select from menu Mail -> Preferences

Select an existing SBC account setting or click on the + sign at the bottom left of the window. Key in the following information

• Account Type : POP (if adding new account)
• Description : SBC
• Email Address : your sbc email
• Full Name : your full name
• Incoming Mail Server : mail.sbc.edu.sg
• User Name : your SBC IT account user name
• Password : your SBC password
  

 Select Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) -> Edit SMTP Server List

Key in the following information

• Description : SBC SMTPS
• Server Name : mail.sbc.edu.sg
  

Click on Advanced and enter the following information

• Use default ports
• Use Secure Sockets Layer
• Authentication : Password
• User Name : your SBC IT account user name
• Password : your password
